Nia’s story

“Events are so much fun”

Nia is a membership fundraiser on behalf of Herefordshire Wildlife Trust and Worcestershire Wildlife Trust, and finds the role suits her love of chatting with people and getting out and about to different locations.

Inspiring others

“The job is constantly rewarding – getting people involved in some of the biggest issues we face in this country is something I feel privileged to be a part of.

“I am always overwhelmed at how keen and knowledgeable some of the children that visit my stand are. I feel very fortunate to help motivate young people to get involved in nature and wildlife.

Variety

“I love the variety of venues and events that we get. I have never been a 9-5 office sort of person – I can’t sit still long enough! I love that every time I go to work, I get to visit somewhere different every time.

“Events are so much fun because you get to meet so many different people, including different vendors, which can also be hugely beneficial in discovering new venues and events.

Chatting

“The job itself is really simple. All you do is turn up, set up your stand and talk to people. So once you’ve done all that bit, it’s just chatting, and we just chat about our charity and what we do and it’s really as simple as that.

Flexible

“What’s really nice is how flexible it is. So, I work weekends and I like working weekends because I know I’m going to see the right kind of demographic and I want to talk to as many people as I possible can but I do know that if I need to book a weekend off or I need to book holidays, I’ve got an amazing management team that will help me do that and it’s never a problem. I’ve never had any issues doing that sort of thing.

Nature

“This job is for anybody who is looking to get out of the 9-5 hustle and bustle. It’s perfect for anybody who loves chatting to people and loves a bit of nature. You don’t need to be an expert in wildlife to talk about it. You will learn things along the way but, honestly, just chat to people. I’ve learnt to be confident through doing this job, so I really encourage you to look into this, if you’re a people person and you like to get out in the outdoors!

Earning potential

“Just to give you an idea of earning potential with this job, I work three days a week and I earn a full-time wage. I just love that. I can work 18 hours a week, and the rest of the week I’ve got to myself, and I still have enough money to spend on my hobbies and what I love but also to pay my bills.”
